This fun family activity for Valentine's Day introduces your child to genealogy. It can be expanded upon with many creative ideas and projects. I use the basic version with my daughter's Girl Scout troop. Take these ideas and resources to start a project that you will all enjoy!
Basic Project
Use this cute family tree from About Genealogy to let your child begin to investigate his ancestry. Simply print out the free form and help your child fill in the names of her parents, grandparents, and great-grandparents.
Family Love History Project
Now, let your child use this easy questionnaire to explore family stories and history. Your child will love to hear the stories of how his parents and grandparents met and fell in love (and telling the story might just rekindle the spark for you this Valentines Day!) I used my word processing software, inserted a cute graphic from About Graphic Design, titled it Family Love History, and listed some sample questions to use.
